Verve - Voyager 1

First post! Yes, this is going to be another shitty, poorly written blog about music with links to shit, sometime. I'll try and keep it OOP stuff, and if anything is for sale I'm gonna try and post links to where you can buy these things.

First up is this killer bootleg from a band that I always thought sucked. To be honest, the only song I knew of before listening to this was 'bitter sweet symphony', which got really popular in the late 90's, but I remember not liking it. I'll have to go back and revisit someday, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. THIS album here though, is a totally different story. Taken from two live shows back in '92 (I believe), this 6 song LP contains great dreamy psych, with the band playing out of their goddamn minds. My favorite tracks here are 'Gravity Grave', which rumbles on for over 8 minutes, and 'Already There', which I like a little better than the version on their first LP, 'A Storm In Heaven', which I also recommend. I think if the band had a legit LP that sounded this heavy they would be up there with the likes of Spacemen 3 and Slowdive, I think you could argue that this album may sound like a combo of those two, with more akin to Slowdive that SP3. The sound quality of these recordings is amazing too, and every song has an odd clip from something, which I'm assuming was added to the LP and not from the actual live shows. One of the few times in the last year or so that I was immediately knocked off my feet listening to something for the first time, this is perfect music to blast with the windows down while you're on your way to somewhere. Do yourself a favor and get this NOW! And if you know anyone who's wanting to sell their copy, let me know, cause I want one!
